I like :3 will venture more into them

Meets are aight. If you're down for just meeting up and chatting then yer, they're fun. There really isn't much else to do at them, though. Take it how you will :x

A healthy 20 or so tend to show. Most who own suits don't bring them, as there's not really events that go down where suiting would be any sort of fun, as all the "well lit" places in Vegas at night..on a Saturday..are kind of against the whole "covering face" deal. Most do wear collars/tails, I just go as myself. The best way to go.

Yay! ^w^ I'm glad you like them! Their songs can be taken in a lot of different ways, but they aren't too soft, and aren't too hard all the same. The Birthday Massacre is more of a peppy band that is pretty neat too. "Blue" and "Happy Birthday" are good songs.

X3 They still sound like fun though. I sort of imagined everyone meeting at a park, and then playing on the playground wearing tails and ears. lol! When you say that "all the "well lit" places are kind of against the whole "covering face" deal", do you mean that the people there don't like suiters wearing a full suit? Or just that its a bit.. moot to do it?
Yourself is a good way to go :) Still, a fuzzy red panda tail could always be fun!

I'm currently at a loss on how to make a cute bunny tail that wont be easily pulled off and thrown around like some sick game of "Hey! Hey! Cat got your tail? 8D" Because I can completely see that happening at some point, or having it fall off. One or the Other. x3 *gigglefit*

What I think everyone means about the whole 'well lit' place with the face being covered is: Places where we have meets in the evening are at establishments (restaurants, pinball museum, etc) Have rules about people coming in with their face completely covered (security reasons). I don't own a suit yet, although I do mascot work for a living.

Ask Bunnyman about the tail thing, he has a good one here wears with his DJ outfit that fits onto a belt, he may be able to pass the design onto you or something ^.^

Again on the coming out thing I'd say take your time. There is a bad stigma when it comes to furs, so I would only do it with people that REALLY know you or people you already know are cool with the fur community. My ex-roommate has seen my furry art and pretty much already figures I am, tho she's never asked me about it. And I have another friend who is fascinated by the furry thing, and wants to go to a con herself. I don't think shes a fur, but she doesn't know Im one either. But those 2 would be the first I tell when I get around to it.

lol xP most mainly chill around the picnic benches and such. Since the meets start so late, there's not a good deal of daylight to rough around with ^^;

xD love red panda tails :3~ but this reason is also the reason I won't get a full suit, and the reason is that making a red panda tail in proportion to a 5'10 guy would be a ridiculously long tail x3 wouldn't want to have to carry my own tail whenever I walked anywhere lol.

I shall ask Bunnyman :3 thank you for letting me know! There was this super huge one on Dev. that caught my attention. But one half that size would be perfect I think. Clickeh! Or even a bunny hat! :D Look at those ears!

I would have to agree with you about that. Furs do have a bad rep, especially since that stupid CSI episode. One person that I asked about furs reply was "Its the people who run around in mascot suits right?" >_<
Still for my painting class, I really want to do my self portrait with my furry self instead of my human self. I think that may be a way for people to say "oh, thats interesting" without me really saying anything about it. But again... thinking that over very -very- carefully right now. No idea if there is anyone against furs in my class, but we have such a wonderful range of interests, and it seems like everyone is very open minded.

Having a friend that is interested is a good thing though. :) Have you thought of taking her to a con yourself?

XD! You know... you could make it almost proportionate, but leave just enough space to where it doesn't touch the ground. :3 But it would be such a pretty and fluffy tail to carry!

As for the meets being so late at night, maybe try to meet up sooner? Like 5 or 6ish?

You know... you could attach some eye hooks to parts of the tail and then the back of the suit. The fur would hide the hooks and because they are eye hooks you could attach and detach the tail from your back at will ^.^

I think the self-portrait thing would be an awesome way to express yourself! Some websites I frequent I have my avatar as my fursona or some other furry art. And if anyone is being critical, just tell them you were emotional animalistic at the time XD

And yes I've thought about bringing her to a con, but she likes to gossip XD so if she found out I was a fur then my whole social network would find out =P

well, from my tailbone down...there's only about 3 1/2 feet or so. Would need a good 5ft for it to not look stumpy xD it would be awesome though.

I think the reason they're held as late as they are is due to people having work and all that, dunno. If I show to officials it's usually not until 10:15 anyways, as I don't get off til late.

It's a good idea, just feels unrealistic to me. Personal preference is all ^^;

Ooo that is a very good explanation. *glomps* Thank you :) I'm going to work on my anthro anatomy first though! But hopefully I can feel a bit accomplished if people don't take it completely weird. I want to do a whole series of paintings with rabbits at some point, so why not start out with some self representation here and there? It's a good way to not have one random fur piece too so people don't get critical. Yay safety nets!

Oh geeze, that would not be enjoyable.Especially if she knows all of your other friends :\ well... unless of course she ended up being a fur herself ;). I hope you don't mind me asking this, but does anyone in your family know that you are a fur?

Hmm, well, I could always try to make something for you. I'm going to get some fabric to make a bunny tail pretty soon here, so i could sketch something out. If not I hear stumpy tails will be all the rage this season!

Ahh, that is understandable then. 10:15 is late for me to be honest. How late do meets usually go on for, just until people start breaking off and people head home? Or is there a sort of "closing" to every meet?

meet tends to go on til about 11 or 11:30 at whatever place it's being held at, and afterwards everyone goes out to eat. I don't think I left until 1:30 or so last time.

She Doesn't know all of them, but I good chunk of them, and my work friends. Depending on what my boss may or may not have heard about the 'fur community' she probably won't care. She was cool when she found out I was gay (which..by the way, happened because of said gossiping friend XD) I'm just afraid of it leaking and my brother finding out. When he found out I liked men, he didn't speak to me for months v.v

My mom calls me a 'fox' every once in a while is I'm cuddling with my stuffies, but I honestly don't think she has a clue as to what a 'fur' is. But my mom is the COOLEST person in the world. So I really don't care if she knows... again, I'm just afraid of my brother finding out.

I lost this convo a while back but yes, you should see my tail. It's huge and it's survived drunk girls at nightclubs, burning man, and more than a few cons with only minor patching up needed. I also have a sewing machine.

I don't know how this got in to the closet/open fur but I am probably one of the most open furs you will meet. It's not that bad if you learn how to deal with people who aren't cool with it and make them fine with it. It just takes some finesse, charisma, and standing your ground. I've never heard of anyone getting beat up for being a furry outside of the south.
I still glean over getting my entire job to accept it. ;p Yes... I'm furry at work. HA!
The major problem — one of the major problems, for there are several — one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well known fact, that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.
And so this is the situation we find: a succession of Galactic Presidents who so much enjoy the fun and palaver of being in power that they very rarely notice that they're not.
And somewhere in the shadows behind them — who?
Who can possibly rule if no one who wants to do it can be allowed to?

That is cool that your boss wouldn't care C: As for your brother...he needs to realize that you are family. How can you be mad at family for being who they are? You could always tell your mom about it, but ask her to not tell your brother, if you only want her to know. :3 It's a bit ironic that she calls you a fox though ^^ It would be hard not to smirk at her once she said that. But one thing is, gossiping friends are not a good thing >.o Does she realize how bad gossiping can be? From my experience, gossip at work is a one way ticket to a pink slip.

*chuckle* it's been a bit of a random one. But I do want to see your tail D: It survived a burning? Being able to fix it yourself is a huge bonus too. ;)

You must be very convincing then! I haven't heard of any furs being beat up to be honest, but have heard of kids getting fun of in school and stuff. College is a bit more open and mature though, so I don't think wearing my tail to art class would be bad. ^^' That is so cool that you get to wear your tail at work though! Its just trying to explain what furry is, that gets me lost ^^' I just explain it by saying that I represent myself as a rabbit. :)
Do most people in your family know you are a furry too?

No no, Burning Man, a week long desert festival.

As a clarification I do not wear my tail nor ears to work. I work in a place that requires a professional dress code. However it's not a secret I am a furry and most people know I even run this community. I have worn my ears and everything in once, but that's cause I got an after hours emergency call late at night and I had to run in to the office as is.

I don't always wave it around like a big flag like I am some furry pride advocate, cramming the fact I am furry down others throats but I've never denied nor hid it. That's the trick to it really, when you are cramming it down peoples muzzles you are asking for people to give you a difficult time about it. No matter what if someone want's to be difficult you will never out argue them.

You wanna know my big secret that gets everyone? Don't over explain it, let it lie at the simple and never act exasperated, annoyed, scared or any of that. When talking about your furry do it with a big smile like you are showing off your metal for finding the cure for cancer. Here is an example, this is how it usually goes.

Quote

Them: What's with the ears and the tail?
Me: I'm theBunnyMan
Them: But what's it mean?
Me: It doesn't mean anything, I'm theBunnyMan
Them: So you are a furry?
Me: Yep
Them: SO what's that all about?
Me: Well I am a bunny.
Them: Like you ()*& bunnies?
Me: Nope I am one
Them: So you are telling me you... are a bunny
Me: It's a Spiritual thing, like animal totems.
Them: And...
Me: That's it basically.
Them:... Uhmmm Kewl....

Most of the time people ask me about it at nightclubs and all I have to say is "I'm the Bunny Man" and just with the way I can say it it is good enough for most people. Also not being afraid to joke about it is key too. I will walk up to people and tell them. "Hi! I'm the bunny man, now quite sure why everyone keeps calling me that *fluffs an with a free paw* but it works" Charisma goes a long way.

Many in my family knows as well. My mom was calling me bunny for a while too, she stopped but I think that's just cause she got bored of it.
The major problem — one of the major problems, for there are several — one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.

Im openly furry myself, with a strong approach to if you dont like it keep walking. But from my experience with people there either confused by the concept or there accepting to it. Granted I have heard my fair share of negative comments. But I also have a great way of dealing with individuals like that. 100% furry, 100% Jackal, 100% Militant when threatened.

As far as friends and family go, everyone knows to one point or another as well. I spent about 6+ years hiding as a fur, and there is nothing more than a huge relief to not hide what you are, and your personal ideals. And yes I wear my collar and my tail at any given chance.

Just my 2 cents *shrug*
