Who's getting or has gotten it?

Yes I realize it's almost 11PM and Gamestop isn't selling it for a little over an hour still.
It's a preemptive topic! So suck on that one! =P

I fail at FF games... although I LOVE the story and like watching other people play it. That style of game (turn based, you attack this guy, okay now you use this item, okay now I get attacked, okay now you cast this spell) really eats away at me... I have dragonage and I havn't started it because I hear its just like that but MORE complicated and time-consuming

I love RPGs. They are my favorite games. Best stories, character development, music, etc etc in my opinion normally.

I WAS going to sit out at midnight to get it, but because of working this morning I decided not to.

I really love a lot of the FF games going way back to 1 (and dragon warrior which doesn't count but I beat it like 4 times.)
I lived for FFO (11) for about two years too.
I still haven't beat twelve. i got really far and then had a save failure and after loosing all that data I walked away from it.

I am REALLY tempted to get it and play it... so... Maybe. I guess if they have a copy when I go to work with my coworker.
The major problem — one of the major problems, for there are several — one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well known fact, that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.
And so this is the situation we find: a succession of Galactic Presidents who so much enjoy the fun and palaver of being in power that they very rarely notice that they're not.
And somewhere in the shadows behind them — who?
Who can possibly rule if no one who wants to do it can be allowed to?

I had to change my vote, I folded and got it. I guess I need to spend some time on the XBOX now

Xbox for the loss!!! Final Fantasy has compressed audio and video on the 360 sadly. It's uncompressed on PS3. Only reason I got it on my PS3.

But I've played pretty much every game Square has ever made. xD I totally consider them gods! Kinda sad huh? lol

I would love love love to have this but I don't know where I'd find the time to play. Maybe in December after I've graduated and have a little relaxation time, I'll pick it up. Hopefully it'll be cheaper by then, too. ;)

i really really REALLY hate this combat system so far. Not to be rude but as it is now (I've only played into 4 hours but they've seemed to have established every perk of this "Paradigm ATB" system) it's probably one of the worst combat systems I've ever seen in a game. You can only control one character, and the other two are set to auto the same move over and over forever.

For the Loss??? Is that the new one?
I so don't care about the console wars or your 2048Q resolution. I play my XBox on a 22 Inch TV with old computer speakers to accent the ones built in to the TV.

I wouldn't call it the WORST but I am a few hours in and so far it's just a button masher. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
Supposedly in the guide it says after level 03 (I dunno what area that is, the guide is all hardcore no spoilers so it's very vague) it will get better but after the slightly frustrating but interesting battle control system in 12 I expected better than this by far. If we are going back to incident fights at least give me full control over everything again!

UPDATE: I just talked to my friend and he said that once you get several hours in to the game the battle system and controls open WAY UP and it's only button masher while they are trying to fill you with the story.

I'm now 12 hours into the game.

Combat system doesn't necessarily open up, it just gives you a direction in how to run it now. Heavily revolving around the paradigm system...but it just feels so narrow :/ only 6 total classes is extremely annoying, especially when you can't control how you want the AI of your teammates to function. It's just so narrow...and the maps are pathetically linear. Probably the most likeable FF characters in a long time, though. They're all extremely down to earth and just...pleasant. Storyline is rather nice too but it just feels like an interactive movie at this point.

The jury is still WAY out on the paradigm shift bit for me too however at three disks I am hoping this is like seven where it's an 80 hour game at three disks and the first disk is all linear in the main town but then it all goes everywhere after that.

Has anyone noticed this one is laid out a LOT like 7 so far. I was drawing a lot of comparisons myself and I'm not a FF7 junkie, I like the older ones more.

It's one disc on the PS3. It being 3 discs on 360 I heard is due to the crazy amounts of space video and audio took up for the game, which is expected...they're both fantastic. Um but, it's not a long game. IIRC there's only 13 total areas in the game, and every area is extremely linear so..I don't expect there to be much to do in said areas. Being 12 hrs in I think I'm at the 5th or 6th map, which sounds like the typical FF if you play only story; about 35 hrs.

The way they opened up the game I could see it being similiar to 7 (starts up with everyone rushing in, guns blazing) but overall I still continue to compare the game to Xenosaga. Everything is just really similiar.

According to Kotaku and Ars Technica the main story is no less than 50 hours

Quote

In a recent interview, FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama noted, "For XIII, the size of the entire game is considerable. Just running through the main story takes experienced players over 50 hours. For the first time, I think it's possible to play through in full in about 60 hours or so."
