TL;DR: I broke my computer and fixed it again.
NOT TL;DR and much more funny!
Ok, so I wanted to overclock my CPU a little bit, and apparently I did it by just a little too much, so my computer would light up, but not post or boot or anything other than turn on. So I was upset and kinda freaked out thinking I killed my computer. Luckily, I had my laptop with me too, so I hopped on Google and looked up possible remedies and apparently flashing my CMOS by taking out the motherboards battery was the only viable option for me. Problem was, I had no idea where my motherboards battery was or even what it looked like. (I'm kind of a n00b when it comes to the inner workings of a computer) Well, I was able to look up a few pics of my motherboard, but none showed me where the battery was, but there was this one little thing that looked like it might be it, I zoomed in and sure enough it was a battery. The + side was showing and it said 3v on it, I knew it had to be that, but looking up pics and info was the easy part. I painstakingly took apart my beast of a desktop one piece at a time. and was kinda like, how the heck do I get to the battery with my Killer NIC and one of my graphics cards in the way? How am I supposed to remove them? Why didn't I have a smarter friend do this? Was Cher formerly a man? I DIDN'T KNOW! Well, luckily after my LEDs were finally out of my way, I was able to take out my Killer NIC and I had to take out both of my graphics cards, which was a lovliest lady I ever met cuz I didn't pull it hard enough to get it out, I was afraid I was going to break it! Well, after what seemed like an hour, I was able to see my battery in all it's shiny goodness! I thought to myself, "Good job, now the hard part's over and the rest will be a cakewalk!" Could I have ever been more wrong? I tried for maybe ten minutes to pull that sucker out from it's confines, finally got it out and set it down somewhere safe. I then took a quick break, because I was dripping sweat from all that dexterous work. I came back after about five or so minutes, after I was certain that the electric charge had left my machine. I went ahead and popped the battery back in. Got one of my graphics cards in fine without issue, then noticed a free wire dangling from it. I thought to myself, "Where the hell does that go?" After about fifteen minutes of looking, I happened to notice these tiny little prongs where it looked like they may have gone, which coincidentally was smack in the middle of where my graphics cards sat. After about five minutes of fiddling with it and trying to get it in there, I got it. Yes alright, another piece of the puzzle solved! Now for the other graphics card... After about thirty seconds I got it in. But as with the first one, the same issue arose, that little dangly wire. I knew where it went, and I could get it in there, no problem, if I had smaller hands... After nearly twenty minutes of tinkering with my large hands and this one little wire I got it in. PHEW! Okay, I need something to drink. *pops open a Dr. Pepper and chugs it* MMMM that's good, just about as good as when I needed a drink after fiddling with those wires too! Next was my Killer NIC, didn't take me too long to get it in, only about two minutes and some maneuvering of wires. Ok that's in fine. Now time to screw them all in to place. Got that, no prob. Then I had to re-position my LEDs, Popped those onto the velcro tabs and fit it all back in. Alright, almost done! Screw back in the stability bar, done! Alright! Time to put the side panel back on! Oops, what's this, on of the LEDs popped of, no prob, just stick it back on to the velcro and you're... wait a minute... it's not sticking! I check the velcro tabs and realized I switched the LEDs! So my top one was where my bottom one was and vice-versa. *grumble grumble mumble mumble obscure obscenity or two* I left it, part of it stuck, but not the other and after popping the side panel back on it stayed up just fine, so I left it because I was just too lazy at this point. Okay, all seems well. I have everything put back together, now to plug it back in and turn it back on! *presses his power button* Okay, it lights up, it's making a strange noise like that of a baseball card in bike tire spokes and it's... wait... baseball card in tire spokes? I instantly turn it right back off, already knowing what that noise was, A stray wire snuck it's way towards one of my graphics cards fans! That cheeky little... Anywho, I opened my case back up, repositioned the wire and closed it back up without difficulty. Okay, here we go again, moment of truth! *presses his power button again crossing my now sore fingers* Lights up, no strange noises, a nice little beep letting me know everything is working. A few moments later and I notice that I'm not getting any video! OH NO! I must have broken my graphics cards! I check all the plugs first to make sure I hadn't missed something, and sure enough I did. I forgot to connect my monitor back up to my graphics card! Silly me. Okay, third times a charm, let's try this again. *presses the power button* Okay, lights, beep, video and press the delete button to go into my BIOS and load defaults and set up things that need to be set or it won't load Windows. Okay, that's done, saved to CMOS and exited, let it restart, and as it goes I hear that beautiful noise of Windows 7 starting up! I could never have been happier! I fixed my computer without knowing a damn thing of what I was actually doing! Ran a few checks and everything was working fine, not a single problem! You did it Syn, you actually did it, and without killing someone too! Yay! And then I swore to leave the overclocking to the professionals! I hopped on Steam and played some Alien Swarm, and good times were had by all, except our medic who seemed to keep dying. XP
I hope this was as enjoyable to read as it was to type! I kept giggling at my shenanigans throughout this little escapade.
Catch ya on the flip side, at least I'll try to anyway.
PEAS OUT! Carrots, you can stay.

I've never met a "loveliest lady" before. :P Oh, and I also question Cher's gender as well. XD Very funny post. And it was TS;RA (Too short; read all). ^_^ I'm so ignorant to the inner workings of a computer that I wouldn't know what to do either. I'm glad you fixed it! I'd probably break it entirely. There is a moral to this story - with determination and motivation, anything is achievable. Alright, I'll stop. ^_^ But really, congratulations!
P.S. You shouldn't feel smart because you ARE smart. It takes lots of intelligence to do what you just did, especially without proper knowledge.

Kefurin, the ferret-fox, approves the above post.
