In Topic: Entertainment subforum?

Just create a new topic. Make it specific to what you want. You don't have to start "black and white" threads either.
"speaking and gossiping with so-and-so on the forum before about the wrap-up of 24" - this can be a topic. And it would work fine under general chatter.
If there is enough interest in this kind of thing, a sub-category will be made. I really wouldn't doubt if the RP category is killed off at somepoint.
I don't see why creating a new category would make it easier to talk more freely. It's not going to junk things up, we are not that big.
.. and the The NIN example was just an example of topic flow. (Perhaps I should start another topic on this..)
->General Chatter
- What do you listen to? <- conversation starter. a few people find that they listen to NIN. Great!
- NIN, the latest album <- People who met in the prior topic can create a NEW TOPIC and talk about it. No problem!
- NIN, Yesterday's concert <- People who were in the "latest album" thread, break into a NEW, more specific topic.
- At some point the Mods look at the thread and see that music is apparently a BIG thing to talk about and create a category for it.
Does this help? What Im getting at is it's ok to post new topics. Even specific ones. -

timbers, on 13 April 2010 - 11:24 PM, said:So basically one thread to blanket every user's interests?
It's not exactly what I was going for, although I appreciate the middle ground. The wish for a subforum was to keep everything "neat" and such, to target individual peaks of interest. If someone sees a thread title with their favorite musician as the topic, they'd be much more inclined to join in and speak their mind on the subject than visiting a thread that holds no specific interest. One thread would kind of just have a ton of clutter, several conversations going on at once, and far too centralized to delve into a conversation. If you want to talk about music but see 2 pages full of what's happening on American Idol, you're probably not going to interrupt.
Again, thanks for the "permission," but I'll have to decline over said circumstances.
A general thread "What do you listen to", will develop a bunch of users with lists. Yea, it's pretty generic and will likely get off topic.
So.. Break it off! If you see a conversation develop, Start another thread.
"Anyone else listen to NIN"? Seems pretty specific. Enough to develop a conversation.
When that turns into a flamewar about Trent Reznor and the music industry, but 2 people on there want to talk about the last concert..
Break it off! This is okay to do. This place isn't that big.
Yea, I wish the threads would tree out like on Creative Cow. But, this place isn't that big. -

I give you permission to start up an informal thread about (entertainment) in the forum labeled (general chatter).
This entitles you to create:
1 Thread topic title (incl. description)
1 post to try to start conversation
If the thread fails to receive replies, you may receive a low rating for your thread and and evil scorn from tBm. (Which he will likely do anyways) The replies of others will be at their own discretion, and may contain positive or negative comments based on your original post. Reader discretion is advised. The moderators at Vegasfurs will not be held liable for the success of the thread or the opinions of others, but may routinely read your thread to check for posts not following the ToS.
Since this is a furry board, furry topics are always appreciated. But, this is also a very social board. I have no problems with things off topic being posted here. Unless there are a ton of posts that don't get any replies, (i.e. spam.) Give it a shot! -

How am I going to explain this one?
Could I fit in in Brooklyn?
Were there any witnesses?
Are there flights to Easter Island?
Should I change my identity?
Should I get a haircut?
Can I still be creative and not be all goofy?
Can I learn enough Japanese to get a job there?
hmm.. what's she thinking?
Can I get on top of that hill with all the TV towers on it?
Are there guitar tabs for that?
Is my shipment of carbon fiber here yet?
What WAS she thinking?
What was I thinking??
Do I have enough gas to get to Mexico?
Where all the ladies at?
Ooo, she has an accent, I wonder where she's from?
Anyone up for a roadtrip?
Anyone up for a beer?
Anyone? Anyone?
Nobody?
What did I do wrong now..?
(Change all locations, goto start.)
